Before the day of the test

What happens if I need to change my test date or time?

You'll have to cancel your current test and book another test for the date or time you prefer.

You can cancel your test up to seven days before the test date without charge. After this time your test fee will not be refunded and you will have to pay again for the new test time.

If you arrive late for your test, or do not attend for your test, the test fee will not be refunded.

How can I cancel my test booking?

To cancel your test:

We'll send you an email to confirm your test has been cancelled.

If there's more than seven days before the date of your test, the test fee will be refunded to the card used to book your test. The test fee won't be refunded if there's less than seven days before your test.

My name has changed between booking and taking the test

You can change your details up until seven days before you take your test. To do this:

Remember to click Update my details at the bottom of the page to save your changes.

You can't change your details if there is less than seven days before your test.

If you have changed your name and have a UK Certificate of Marriage or a UK Deed Poll Certificate to support this, please bring this document with you on the day of your test. If you do not bring this, and the details on screen do not match that within your ID document, you will be refused your test and you will not receive a refund of your test fee.

My address and postcode has changed between me booking and taking the test

How can I change the ID I bring to the test?

You can change your details up until seven days before you take your test. To do this:

  • Log into your account
  • Click on My details from the left-hand menu, and
  • Change the ID type, number and expiry date

Remember to click Update my details at the bottom of the page to save your changes.

You can't change your details if there is less than seven days before your test.

I didn't get any email asking me to confirm my email address? What should I do?

Please can you check we have your right email address? To do this, log into your Life in the UK account and click My details from the left-hand menu.

You can then check we have your right email address. From this screen you can request that a new email be sent to confirm your email address.

I didn't get the email with my booking confirmation. What shall I do?

Just log into your Life in the UK account and click My test from the left-hand menu.
